We popped in just because it was right by the farmers' market. The interior isn't anything special but the food was actually quite good and much better than our meal at Naung Mai.
The pumpkin curry with chicken was full of flavor and was jam packed with basil leaves. The portion was generous. The spring rolls and the green papaya salad were also very enjoyable. -

This Thai restaurant is probably the first one that open in Hilo. I've been dining here since 1992.
I've tried at least 6 different Thai Restaurant in the last few years in Hilo and Royal Siam is still my favorite.
The food is very flavorful and always consistent. Plus it's the most reasonably price one. Give it a try. -

Simplicity is key...great customer service, uber delicious Thai food, and reasonable prices! (Sighhhhhhhhhhhh...just another jewel of tha Big Island!)

We actually wanted to go to Full Moon Cafe, but they were closed for a private event. We had our hearts set on Thai food, so we went here instead. In hindsight, maybe we should have waited until tomorrow for Full Moon.
The positives first: there was no wait, service was speedy (although nearly silent), and the food came out very quickly. I think we spent less than 30 minutes total in the restaurant.
However... When I ordered the Penang curry, the server asked me if I wanted rice with it. How else does one eat curry? (And yes, he charged me extra for the plain white rice). It tasted okay - definitely not the best curry I've ever had. Lots of chicken and sauce, very few veggies.
My husband got the pad Thai, which I commented looked "orange ish" before his first bite. It turned out tasting a bit tomatoey, not at all like pad Thai should. Again not terrible but not exactly good either.
If you have another option, take it! With so many Thai restaurants in hilo, this place could stand to step up their game a bit.
